Author · Storyteller · Explorer of History and the Stars
Steven Lazaroff is an author of historical fiction, science fiction, and alternate history, drawn to stories where the past and present collide in unexpected ways.
His debut novel, A Question of Time, introduced readers to the dual narrative of a history professor stranded in 18th century France and the modern detective tasked with finding a man who, officially, doesn’t exist. The sequel, A Time for Change, picks up where the first left off and brings the two timelines to a dramatic conclusion.
Stepping into science fiction, his space opera The Chronicles of Talwin follows Markus Talwin through the dangerous underworld of Beltran and a corrupt galactic republic — a story of survival, family, and the cost of doing what must be done.
Steven has also co-authored two works of non-fiction with Mark Rodger: History’s Greatest Deceptions and Confidence Scams and Where Are They? — an exploration of the science and philosophy behind the question of extraterrestrial life, praised by Nick Pope of the UK Ministry of Defence.
When he’s not writing, Steven can often be found on the water, where the horizon has a way of sparking the kind of questions that end up in books.
“History is full of moments where one decision, one person, one unlikely coincidence changes everything. That’s where my stories live.”
Whether it’s a professor stranded in revolutionary France or a family man forging a new destiny among the stars, Steven’s work is grounded in the belief that ordinary people, when pushed, are capable of extraordinary things.
